Amsterdam Stories: King’s Day, Summer Vibes & More

Hi darlings!

Good morning :) How are you feeling today? As I’m writing this it’s 9:15 AM and I’m on my way to my parents. The past week was wonderful and I can’t wait to tell you all about it!

First of all, King’s Day. I was really looking forward to experiencing this day in Amsterdam for the first time ever. Even though I live in The Netherlands my entire life, I’ve never celebrated this day in our capital city. So, my parents stayed in a hotel nearby and came to my place in the morning. My mom was a bit nervous to travel with the tram (because of the stories about packed trams), but with our help she did it! I’m proud of you mom :) After 20 minutes we arrived at Vondelpark for our first flea market. I just loved the happy vibes and the fun games people came up with it. It was still a bit early, so not super crowded. After a while we experienced it all and decided to travel back to my place. There (while we had lunch) my mom suggested to visit Fabrique Lumières in the Westerpark area. It was a pleasant surprise that there was also a King’s Day flea market. We ended up enjoying the digital art of Fabrique Lumières and the happy vibes of the market.

Later that day we traveled to a hotel to stay for the night + had some yummy food. Ohh, how I love the relaxing luxury hotel vibes! I also took a relaxing bath before going to bed. The next morning we enjoyed an amazing breakfast and afterwards headed to our next destination: Leiden. Leiden is such a charming city. It’s like a mini version of Amsterdam. We visited some museums and had some coffee/tea at a cute cafe overviewing the canals.

So, enough about the weekend (hihi!). The past few days where really about going to yoga classes, job interviews and strolling, strolling, strolling. I easily reach 10K steps every day, since I live here. Some highlights of the past few days where: visiting a free 30 minute classical concert at a beautiful historical building and enjoying the sun on a picnic blanket at Vondelpark. Ohh, I also managed to get tickets for the sold out K3 Originals Reunion concert (I used to be a fan of them when I was a little girl). This made my inner child really happy and I can’t wait to see them next year ;)

Well, last but not least, let me tell you a little bit about my weekend plans. I’ll visit Intratuin with my mom (tomorrow) and IKEA with both of my parents (Sunday). Somewhere in between I also want to find some time to visit my sister, brother-in-law and 7-month-old nephew :) Ohh, I’m also looking forward to this Monday: Liberation Day. There will be lots of celebrations throughout the city, so more about that next week! What are your plans for the weekend?

There’s only one thing I’d like to say: don’t forget to tell the people you love “I love you”, including yourself♥️

X JJ
