Amsterdam Stories: Family Time, ARTIS & More

Hi darlings!

How are you feeling this Saturday? Tired? Happy? Excited? Blessed? Let me know :) I can’t wait to tell you all about my week and some of my mixed feelings.

Last weekend was all about Mother’s Day! I spent that day with my parents, sister, brother-in-law and my adorable little nephew. The weather was lovely, so we were outside most of the time. Playing some outdoor games, eating pie and enjoying the weather. At the end of the day we also had a delicious diner at a nearby hotel. Ohh, I promised you I would tell you what I got my mom for Mother’s Day. It was a hydro massage at the House of Rituals :) I’ll let you know once we’ve made our appointment.

So, if you’ve been following me for a while you probably know all about my love for spirituality. Last Monday it was full Moon in Scorpio (my Sun sign): the perfect time for a little full moon ceremony. I collected some stuff to represent each element: water, earth, air and fire. It’s just the perfect time to release everything that no longer serves you and to set some intentions for the upcoming weeks. I followed an online guided ceremony and loved each single part of it.

Well, the rest of the week was filled with yoga sessions, job interviews and exploring Amsterdam. Some highlights of my week were: relaxing at Rijksmuseum Garden (one of my favorite places), having the best lunch at Juice Brothers (a yummy protein granola bowl), drinking tea at Bijenkorf, visiting the World Press Photo Exhibition 2025 (Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam) and visiting ARTIS Zoo. This zoo had so many vegan options: I couldn’t believe my eyes. I loved this so much and had the best veggie wraps, chocolate soy drink and fries (hihi). Last week I also watched some parts of the Eurovision Song Contest. I loved the performance of The Netherlands and I’m super curious about his performance in the grande finale tonight.

On a more serious note: still no good news about finding a job. I’m trying to stay positive as much as I can, but sometimes it’s hard. When you’re receiving rejections weekly, you’re slowly starting to think you’re not good enough. Thankfully I have the support from my loved ones to cheer me up when I’m feeling down. I do have two job interviews next week, so fingers crossed!

This blog post is slowly coming to an end. My parents can be here any minute for a yummy lunch at my place. I’ll also be visiting Deventer today and spend some more quality time with my family. What are your plans this weekend?

Some personal advice to end today’s post: stop comparing your life to others. You’re not behind. You’re exactly where you need to be. Trust that♥️

X JJ
