Amsterdam Stories: Cacao Ceremony, Wedding Anniversary Parents & More

Hi darlings!

How are you feeling today? I’m doing just fine. The past few days I was quite busy in my head processing all the amazing birthday celebrations. It was a bit quiet afterwards and I also didn’t really had anything planned last Friday and Saturday: such a big difference compared to last week.

Well, let me tell you all about some of the fun things I did and experienced last week! The first thing I’d like to mention is the office day. Since it was my birthday last Monday, I decided it would be fun to treat my colleagues on some luxury cookies. They really appreciated it and they even sang ‘Happy Birthday’ for me. It was a bit awkward, but I thought it was super kind of them!

Last Friday marked the start of my weekend (as you guys know, I work 32 hours a week). And while I normally really enjoy my freedom and spending time doing whatever I want to do, this day it felt different. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do or which places I wanted to visit. It felt like I’ve already experienced so many different things here in Amsterdam. Maybe it sounds strange, but I’m really looking forward to some kind of change. Something new. Something exciting. Something that sets my heart on fire. So, I decided to really take the time that morning for a long yoga / cacao ceremony / meditation session at home. I really enjoyed it. Oh, how I love spirituality. After lunch, I decided to take a long walk through the Vondelpark. The sun was shining, the air felt cold and fresh on my skin: it was lovely. I finished the walk with a cup of tea at cafe Vertigo.

The next morning, I felt kinda lost or restless. What did I really wanna do with my time off? I searched for an extra job for 4-8 hours a week, a class to learn a new skill, voluntary work, but none of this made me really exciting. After a yoga session, cleaning my apartment and a long shower, I decided to give it a rest and go for a walk through the city. I strolled through some lovely streets and ended up buying a peacock ore and a book at a cute spiritual shop. Oh, I also tried a new restaurant at a five star hotel: Pulitzer. The interior was lovely and the tea was perfectly fine, but the service was a bit slow. When I came home later that day, I heard the fire alarm in the underground bicycle parking going off and I didn’t really know what to do. So … I called my mom, hihi. In the end I called the fire department and with them on the phone I wasn’t afraid anymore to check if there was an actual fire or if it was just an alarm malfunction. Luckily, there wasn’t a fire & an electrician would come later that evening to turn it off :)

So, today (Sunday) it was the 35th wedding anniversary of my parents! Oh, how I would love to have an anniversary like that for myself one day. They came over to my place to celebrate it in Amsterdam. We had lunch, visited the Willet-Holthuysen House (a beautifully furnished canal house), did some shopping and had a yummy dinner at a restaurant. I ended up buying the cutest fake fur hat, which my mom also really loved. After all this, my parents got into the car and started their journey back home. An hour ago I got a WhatsApp message from my mom that she bought the exact same hat online: so cute! Can’t wait to be twinning with her!

Well, before I’ll end this blog post, there’s one thing I’d like to share with you: all the answers will come. Trust that♥️
