Hi darlings!
It’s been a while! Four months, to be precise! And … a lot has happened over the past few months. I’ll tell you all about it, so if you’re ready: here we go :)
Well, the most important thing is probably: I quit my job. It was something that had been on my mind for a while. The main reason (one of them) was a mismatch between the tasks that were listed in the job description and the actual tasks that came with this job. Honesty is super important to me so at the end I just couldn’t take it any longer. The less fun part was, that I started to like some of my colleagues more and more… In the end, I left that job with mixed feelings. Then the next difficult period arrived: job hunting. I really hadn’t expected it to be as difficult as it was. Weeks passed with zero results. I was unemployed now and at some point I thought I was never going to find a new job. That I would lose my house and many other things. It felt quite lonely and scary to be honest. To be responsible for your own housing and other expenses, while not having the safety of the income of your partner, for example (still single AF). Buttt, two weeks ago I finally received some good news: a job offer (from not one but two different companies!). So, after carefully comparing them, I chose the one that felt best. You have no idea how relieved I felt! My body still feels a bit tired and tense from all the stress, but I’m sure it will get better soon. I do have two weeks to relax, before I start my new job.
Now, on to all the other highlights of the past few months!
- First of all, I had a girls’ day out in the city with my mom and sis. We had a lovely massage at House of Rituals, did some shopping and had yummy food (twice, hihi!). I really loved it!
- I also spent some time at the beach. It was the first time since I moved to Amsterdam, even though it’s only 30 minutes away by train.
- Furthermore, I celebrated the birthday of my mom (July) and dad (August). We celebrated my mom’s birthday in France and my dad’s birthday at a zoo.
- Another huge highlight was WorldPride. My parents booked a room with Canal Parade view and it was a great way to enjoy it all (and it was the first time to actual experience this event in person).
- I also visited Artis with my sis, brother-in-law and nephew! It was the first time all three of them visited Amsterdam together.
- Ohh, I also upgraded my bedroom and got a new wider bed and a huge wardrobe. I’m still super happy with it everyday :)
- Then, I got the chance to visit the Open House at Dutch National Opera & Ballet. It was super magical to go behind-the-scenes!
- We also celebrated two other birthdays: my younger sister’s and my nephew’s. It were traditional celebrations with cake and presents at my sister’s house.
- During the last weekend of September the Museumplein Polo Event took place. I loved the entire atmosphere and the unique location.
- Ohh, I also rediscovered the fun of going to yoga classes and trying out punching bag training classes. It feels super good to do these things in a group of like-minded people.
- I hadn’t had a bicycle for quite some time, but a month ago that changed. I got a really beautiful vintage Gazelle bike and named her grandma Betsy :p
- We’re almost reaching the end of this huge highlights list (hihi!), but not before I mention the Amsterdam City Walk. I walked the 10 km and received a pretty medal afterwards. My parents were there to cheer me on and afterwards we had a yummy lunch at a restaurant nearby :)
One more thing I really wanna talk about is my upcoming birthday (3×11, hihi!). I’ve recently booked a room at a 5-star hotel to celebrate it with my parents. The people who were always there for me. Booking this hotel feels like some kind of gift from me to me. To celebrate where I stand today and all the struggles I’ve overcome. The heartbreaks, the setbacks, the rejections, the cryings, the loneliness. May my 33rds be filled with love, luck, abundance, ease and so much joy!
So, that’s all for now! You’re all caught up again :) The next blog post will be all about my birthday celebrations and the first experiences at my new job! Ohh, there’s just one final thing I wanna say, before I end this blog post: after every setback, you come back stronger♥️
